"Busy Bee" or "Be?"

"Now it came to pass, as they went, that he entered into a certain village: and a certain woman named Martha received him into her house.  And she had a sister called, Mary, which also sat at Jesus' feet, and heard his words.  But Martha was cumbered about much serving, and came to him, and said, Lord, dost thou not care that my sister hath left me to serve alone? bid her therefore that she help me.  And Jesus answered and said unto her, Martha, Martha, thou art careful and troubled about many things: But one thing is needful: and Mary hath chosen that good part, which shall not be taken away from her."
Luke 10:38-42

My husband often refers to me as a 'busy bee' because it seems like I am constantly working on something around the house.  There is always a chore to be done, an errand to be run, or baking to keep the freezer full.  Then there are times when the chores are done, the errands are run and the freezer is full, that I still diligently search for things to do.  I confess, I have a hard time sitting still.  There has to be something that needs to be done!
Then I read about Martha and Mary.  I seem to relate more to Martha, but my Spirit wants me to relate more to Mary.  Martha had good intentions; she didn't shy away from hard work.  But there comes a time when enough is enough, the work is complete, and it's time to settle down at the Saviour's feet to hear what He has to say.
In eternity, when it comes down to the tiniest detail of dusted knick-knacks, versus spending time in God's Word or praying for a friend, the dust will no longer matter.
At some point there must be a balance between the 'doing' and just 'being' still.

It's when we are at our quietest...
We hear our Lord more clearly...
        But that's just me!

"Be still, and know that I am God:" Psalm 46:10a
