What is Christmas?

On December 9, 1965, A Charlie Brown Christmas written by Charles M. Schulz first aired on television.  It has turned into a Classic and has been shown on TV ever since.  Who could ever forget the frustrated, desperate cry from it's main character, Charlie Brown, when he cried out, "Isn't there anyone who can tell me what Christmas is all about?!"  If you remember the cartoon, his best friend Linus steps up on the stage, their friends hush, and a spotlight surrounds Linus as he quotes Luke 2:8-14.
Verse 11 says, "For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Saviour, which is Christ the Lord."
Linus steps off of the stage and tells his friend, 'That's what Christmas is all about, Charlie Brown.'
The true meaning of Christmas has been buried beneath mistletoe, Santa's, presents, and parties, and yet if we look close enough at the people around us, we will still see those asking this same question:  "Isn't there anyone who can tell me what Christmas is all about?"
May we be there for them to proclaim the miraculous birth of our Saviour!  The babe who was born of a virgin for the sole purpose to save us from our sins.  This babe grew up to live a sinless life that we could not.  He grew up to pay the price of our sins by dying on a cross, and resurrecting from the grave to give us victory over death and the grave!  And this same Jesus will soon come again!
So what is Christmas?
It's all about Christ!
But that's just me!

"You can never truly enjoy Christmas until you can look up into the Father's face and tell him you have received His Christmas Gift."  John R. Rice
