Saying Goodbye

I just spent the last six days with my sister.  While she was here visiting, we did a lot of shopping, hiking at the State Park, eating out, laughing, talking about our Lord, and playing lots of games.  Last night I had to drive her to the airport to say goodbye.
We hugged each other a little tighter and a little longer, because we didn't know when we would see each other again.
Saying goodbye is heartbreaking when living so far apart from one another.

When I began to drive away, I thought of another heartbreaking goodbye in the bible.
The Apostle Paul is saying goodbye to the Elders in the church at Ephesus and as they said their goodbyes, they knew they would not see Paul again, face to face, until they all met again one day with the Lord.

"And when he had thus spoken, he kneeled down, and prayed with them all.  And they all wept sore, and fell on Paul's neck, and kissed him. Sorrowing most of all for the words which he spake, that they should see his face no more. And they accompanied him unto the ship." Acts 20:36-38

I find comfort in the fact that whether or not I will get to see my sister again on this earth, I will see her again one day with Jesus, and then we will never have to say goodbye.

When saying goodbye to a loved one...
Hold on to them just a little bit longer...
        And a little bit tighter...
It just may be the last time you get to...
                But that's just me!
