"Season's Greeting!" Nope.
"Happy Holidays!" No, uh uh.
"MERRY CHRISTMAS!" There you go!
Every year after Thanksgiving, begins the battle of words. What is the 'politically correct' way to greet someone at Christmas time? To be honest, I don't know what all the fuss is about. Sadly, employees are instructed on what to say and what not to say. In truth, it's just another way to remove Christ from Christmas, which is baffling to me because the birth of Christ is the reason, we celebrate Christmas.
Historically speaking, the actual term 'Merry Christmas' was first recognized in 1534 in London when this greeting was written in a letter sent to Henry Vlll's chief minister Thomas Cromwell from the bishop, John Fisher. It was also used in the 16th century English carol, "We wish you a Merry Christmas."
"And the angel said unto them, Fear not; for, behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy, which shall be to all people. For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Saviour, which is Christ the Lord."
Luke 2:10,11
Let's keep Christ in Christmas.
So, go ahead, friend...
Just belt it out...
With a smile on your face, just say it!
Merry Christmas!
But that's just me!
