Sickness

For which cause we faint not; but though our outward man perish, yet the inward man is renewed day by day.  2 Corinthians 4:16

A week ago, I went to the Salon to get my hair colored.  I was looking forward to this appointment because my gray roots were beginning to tattle on me; but the longer I sat in the chair, observing my stylist wiping her nose with her sleeve, and telling me that her husband was home taking care of her sick children, I knew it would only be a matter of time...
Three days later I began to cough.  I knew I had caught a bug.
In today's world of Covid, I went to see my doctor to be tested, just to make sure this was only a cold.
Praise the Lord, it is just that, but each time I get sick like this I realize that my body isn't getting any younger, and that sicknesses seem to last a little bit longer and seem to be a little bit harder to endure.
Relying on OTC medicines to relieve symptoms but not take care of the actual problem can cause a person to go a little bit crazy!  All I can do is simply let this viral infection run its course; and so I pick up my Bible and read beautiful promises from my Saviour.  Words of Comfort and Joy!
I realize that living in this world we will physically become ill from time to time, but I'm so thankful that my inner man, my Spirit, is renewed every single day!
One day we won't have to worry about the latest bug!
As a hypochondriac, I'm looking forward to that day!
    But that's just me!

What a Day that will Be!
Ben L. Speer 1955

There is coming a day, when no heartaches shall come,
No more clouds in the sky, no more tears to dim the eye,
All is peace forever more, on that happy golden shore,
What a day, glorious day that will be!
There'll be no sorrow there, no more burdens to bear,
No more sickness, no pain, no more parting over there,
And forever I will be, with the One who died for me,
What a day, glorious day that will be!
Chorus:
What a day that will be,
When my Jesus I shall see,
And I look upon His face,
The One who saved me by His grace,
When He takes me by the hand,
And leads me through the Promised Land,
What a day, glorious day that will be!
