Have you heard the term 'resting on your laurels?' It means: to be satisfied with your achievements and not to make an effort to do anything else.
Have you met people like that? I have. They are easy to identify. They are the ones who boast about all the things they 'used' to do, but don't seem to be doing anything right now.
They are so busy looking in the past that they don't see the work ahead of them.
Philippians 3:13-14 says, Brethren, I count not myself to have apprehended: but this one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are before,
I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus.
I don't want to be satisfied in the here and now, from works that I achieved in my past.
I want to be actively serving my Lord...
But that's just me!
